The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the comprehensive health care reform. Formally known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act the law includes a list of health care policies intended to expand access to health insurance to millions of uninsured Americans.
The act expanded Medicaid eligibility, created health insurance exchanges, mandated that Americans purchase or otherwise obtain health insurance, and prohibited insurance companies from denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions.
Provisions included in the ACA expand access to insurance, increase consumer protections, emphasize prevention and wellness, improve quality and system performance, expand the health workforce, and curb rising health care costs.

Individuals with pre-existing health conditions cannot be denied
Coverage for additional screenings, immunizations, and preventative care
The Health Insurance Marketplace is available for new enrollment on November 1st.
As of 2021, over 13 million citizens are enrolled in coverage offered by the ACA.
During the open enrollment, you can sign up for new plans or change your Affordable Care Act plans.
There is no dollar cap on the Essential benefits. There is no cap in order to ensure that people get full treatments and do not have to worry about the costs. There is a cap for out-of-pocket costs that a person might have to pay. There are five different levels of benefits.
